Farah Skye Beauty Promotional Video

Check out the latest promotional video I shot for www.Farahskyejohnson.com Farah is a professional bridal make up artist, located in Northern NJ. It was a pleasure working with her and her models!

For Videographers:

I wanted to focus on using longer lenses to get more compression in the frame and produce nice bokeh. The majority of this promotional video was shot with the Canon C100 mark ii and mostly the Canon 24-70 mark ii and the Canon 100mm L series. I also used the Sigma 35mm art. Between this lens and the 100mm, I was able to get very shallow depth of field. All of the slider movements were shot with the Kessler Second Shooter Plus and the Kessler Stealth Slider. I used LED panels from Yongnuo, such as the 1200 LED and a few 600 LED panels. The voice over was recorded with an Azden shotgun mic and the Zoom H4N. Everything was edited in Adobe Premiere CC. Check out the list of our gear on our website.

Here are some bts shots of the day!

Farah looking over her notes for her speaking parts at the beginning of the video.

Mariah was an awesome model to work with. She was extremely natural in front of the camera. I used the Kessler Second Shooter Plus to get some automated motion shots. This slider and motion control unit produces extremely smooth shots and virtually acts as a second camera operator. This is HUGE for any small video production business that wants to optimize their workflow.

Lighting tip: The studio I was shooting in has giant full pane windows. This allowed a ton of natural light in. I exposed for the natural light and then set the lighting up around that. As you can see, on the left I had a Yongnuo 1200 led panel bouncing into an all white bounce board. This allowed me to fill in some of the shadow on the model and give more dimension to her face. I topped it all off with a hair light. I wanted to get this light as high as possible, so I wouldn't create any harsh shadows on her face and to avoid any hot spots.

It was such a pleasure working with Farah and her models. Please contact CineGraph Studios if you are a small business looking to increase your sales through video advertising!

Salon Fig Promotional Video

I had the pleasure of shooting a promotional video for Salon Fig. Salon Fig specializes in natural and organic hair, body and wellness services. They pride themselves in creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere for each and every client. Please check out this video and their website @ www.salonfig.com

For Videographers:

This promotional video was shot with an array of camera gear. The camera used is a Canon C100 mark ii with a variety of Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses.

Merrill Creek Time Lapse and Drone Footage

I've had my DJI Phantom 4 for almost 6 months now and I haven't had many chances to fly it outside of work. I spent the day at Merrill Creek Reservoir and I was able to capture some beautiful landscape shots of the surrounding beach and water. It was a fairly windy day, but the stabilization on the Phantom 4 is incredible. Even during the windiest moments, the Phantom 4 was able to maintain stability, leaving me with amazingly smooth drone footage. The drone footage in this video was not stabilized in post-production, what you see is straight out of the camera with some color grading.

The time lapse shots were filmed with the Canon C100 Mark ii on a Kessler Stealth Slider and the Kessler Second Shooter Plus. This was the first time I got to play with the Second Shooter and I love the results. The programable moves are easy to set up and each shot is extremely smooth, even at very slow and very fast speeds. The Second Shooter also has the ability to be controlled by a smart device, such as an iPad. This allows the user to control the motion through the iPad instead of on the Kessler controller itself. The Second Shooter Plus controls the pan, tilt and slider movements with a single controller, but you also have the ability to use a secondary controller as well. This allows the user to control the zoom, iris and the focus, all autonomously. Dynamic shots like the "dolly-zoom" ( used in the movies Jaws and Vertigo) are easily achieved when pairing two controllers.

More information about the Kessler Second Shooter Plus and their other products can be found at http://www.kesslercrane.com/second-shooter-plus.

The Second Shooter Plus is one of the best purchases I've made to date and will come in handy on future work. Keep an eye out, I might end up shooting a review video about the Kessler products that I own.

Hannah & Brad's Wedding Cinema Film

I'm excited to present the Wedding Cinema Film of Hannah & Brad Roff. Hannah started her day at Salon Fig in Newton, NJ. They had their ceremony and reception at the Conservatory on the Sussex County Fairgrounds. Congratulations to both Hannah and Brad!

Kelly & RG engagement shoot

I had the pleasure of capturing the engagement photos for Kelly & RG at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown, NJ. It was a warm and sunny October day and the fall colors were in full effect! Check out some of the photos below!

The three of us searched for this tree for a long time before we could find it. I'm glad we took the time because I was able to capture this!

The grounds at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum is a photographers dream. I was able to use several different backdrops, which were all within walking distance.

These are just a few photos from the entire engagement shoot. I will be posting a full gallery soon!

Kirsten and Luis Maternity Session

This past weekend I was able to capture a maternity session with Kirsten and Luis. They had to have been my most laid back and humble clients. I really enjoyed being given the opportunity to capture their special day. So excited to meet the baby!

All photos were shot with a canon 5d mark iii.

Child Portrait Session

I was lucky enough to finally shoot a child portrait session for a close friend of mine. I really enjoyed working with Josh, he is a natural in front of the camera. I was able to capture this awesome portrait of him!

Natalie's Quinceañera

I recently had the opportunity to capture Natalie's Quinceañera several weeks back with Ishan fotografi.(www.ishanfotografi.com). I love how this silhouette turned out!

Camera gear and settings:

Canon 5d Mark iii

Canon 70-200 ii

ISO: 100

Shutter: 1/200

F/2.8

I metered for the stained glass window and then underexposed it slightly to drop my subject into a silhouette.

I did a very small amount of editing in Lightroom to make the colors on the window pop a bit more.

Congrats to Natalie on her big day!
